Lambda Sigma Gamma was officially incorporated and recognized as a service-based, nonprofit corporation by the State of Delaware on April 3, 1998. Subsequently, the sisterhood is also known as Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority, Incorporated.

The motto of Lambda Sigma Gamma is "Unity Through Sisterhood." The sorority's has various graduation cords, depending on the degree. Members receiving a bachelor's degree wear may wear a green cord.<ref name=":1" /> Master's degrees are represented by white cords.<ref name=":1" /> Doctor degrees may wear black cords.<ref name=":1" /> Advanced degrees are represented by yellow cords.<ref name=":1" />

==Philanthropy==
