==History==
Kenvelo dates back to December 1991, when Dany Himi and Michael Saul founded the [[Prague]]-based company, '''CTC - SPORTWEAR'''.<ref name="CTC">Commercial register at justice.cz, identification number (IČ) 44794436, both founders had in 1991 permanent residence in [[Bamberg]], Germany; in October 1994 the company was renamed CTC - SPORT'''S'''WEAR</ref> Registered capital of the company was [[Czechoslovak koruna|CSK]] 100 thousand.<ref name="CTC"/> A few months later, [[Israel]]-born Himi became the sole owner of the company<ref name="CTC"/> and gradually built a chain of clothing stores, Himi's Jeans.

In 1996, Himi decided to establish a new brand to compete with the well-established clothing chains. His initial proposal was ''Josh''; other managers had different proposals.<ref name="PBJ">Marius Dragomir, "The answer has been a big ´yes´", ''Prague Business Journal'', May 2003</ref> After each proposal, some managers said "yes" while others said "no".<ref name="PBJ" /> Dave Gahan proposed a brand name Kenvelo,<ref name="PBJ" /> [[Hebrew language|Hebrew]] for "yesandno" (כן ולא).

In March 1998, Himi transferred a 30% share in CTC to Dave Gahan. In June 1999 CTC was renamed Kenvelo CZ.<ref name="CTC"/>
