'''John Charles Rykert''' (March 10, 1832&nbsp;– December 28, 1913) was a lawyer and [[Conservative Party of Canada (historical)|Conservative]] member of the [[House of Commons of Canada]]. He represented [[Lincoln (federal electoral district)|Lincoln]] from 1878 to 1882 and [[Lincoln and Niagara]] from 1882 to 1891. He represented Lincoln in the [[Legislative Assembly of Ontario]] from 1867 to 1878.<ref name="parl">{{Canadian Parliament links|ID=8023|nolist=yes}}</ref>

He was born in [[St. Catharines]] in 1832,<ref name="parl"/> the son of [[George Rykert]] and Ann Maria Mittleberger.<ref name="rose">{{cite book |url=https://www.canadiana.ca/view/oocihm.91595/488 |pages=488-489 |title=A Cyclopæedia of Canadian Biography: Being Chiefly Men of the Time |year=1886 |publisher=Rose Publishing Co. |editor-last=Rose |editor-first=Geo. Maclean |location=Toronto |accessdate=2009-09-27}}</ref> He studied at [[Upper Canada College]] and the [[University of Toronto]]. He went on to article in law, was called to the bar in 1854 and opened a practice in St. Catharines.
