== Geography ==
The plateau is a large grassland plain ([[alpine steppe]]) with many [[wetland]]s and alpine [[lake]]s (six of the largest lakes of Georgia, [[Tabatskuri Lake|Tabatskuri]], [[Paravani Lake|Paravani]], [[Khanchali Lake|Khanchali]], [[Madatapa Lake|Madatapa]], [[Kartsakhi Lake|Kartsakhi]], [[Saghamo Lake|Saghamo]]).

The Javalkheti Wetlands are included in the [[Ramsar Convention|Ramsar]] [[List of Wetlands of International Importance]].

The plain is crossed from north to south by the [[Abul-Samsari Range|Abuli-Samsari Mountain Range]], a series of [[volcanic cone]]s.
