Foxx first told jokes at a comedy club's open mic night in 1989, after accepting a girlfriend's dare. In 2001, Foxx starred opposite [[Will Smith]] in [[Michael Mann]]'s biographical drama [[Ali (2001 film)|''Ali'']]. On April 26, 2003, Foxx and his sister Deondra Dixon were confronted by security guards and had a physical struggle with police officers who arrested them at [[Harrah's Entertainment|Harrah's casino]] in [[New Orleans]].
