== Career ==
Szabo graduated from Postville High School, where he had played basketball, baseball and golf, in 1986. A 6'11" [[center (basketball)|center]], Szabo played for the [[National Collegiate Athletic Association|NCAA]] [[NCAA Division II|Division II]]'s [[Augustana College (South Dakota)|Augustana College Vikings]] in [[South Dakota]], amassing 1,520 points, 802 rebounds and 185 blocks. He was presented with All-North Central Conference honors in 1989 and 1990.
