In [[theatre lighting]], a '''bastard color''' is a color, typically in a [[color gel]], wherein the predominant color is blended with small amounts of complementary colors; for example, a "bastard orange" gel would produce predominantly [[orange (color)|orange]] light with undertones of [[blue]].
