'''Adam Gierek''' (pronounced {{IPAc-pl|'|a|d|a|m|-|'|g|J|e|r|e|k}}; born on 17 April 1938 in [[Zwartberg]], [[Limburg, Belgium]]) is a [[Politics of Poland|Polish]] [[politician]] and former [[Member of the European Parliament]] (MEP) for the [[Silesian Voivodship]], serving from 2001 to 2019. During his time in the European Parliament, he was a member of the [[Democratic Left Alliance-Labor Union]], part of the [[Party of European Socialists|Socialist Group]], and sat on the [[European Parliament]]'s [[Committee on Industry, Research and Energy]]. He is a son of [[Edward Gierek]].

Gierek was also a substitute for the [[Committee on Culture and Education]], a member of the Delegation to the [[European Union|EU]]-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia and a substitute for the Delegation to the [[ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly]].
