The station was originally granted a three-year developmental community radio license,<ref>[http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2001/DB2001-576.htm Decision CRTC 2001-576], New developmental community radio station, ''CRTC'' September 12, 2001</ref> and began broadcasting at 91.3 MHz (channel 217LP), with an effective radiated power of 5 watts on December 31, 2001.
