Task description
This project coordinates the effort of improving Debian integration and support for business and enterprise users. We aim to provide better support for:
- migration scenarios for clients and servers
- interoperability with other operating systems
- running typical "enterprise" proprietary software on Debian
provide free alternatives for the above (Compiere, Adiempiere, oVirt)
- typical requirements in "enterprise" environments like
- HA
- large scale package deployment
- local package cache
- locally built package deployment
- monitoring
- identity management and directory services (LDAP...)
- auth management (Kerberos...)
- PKI
- file services (NFSv4, CIFS...)
- print services (CUPS...)
- network services (DNS, DHCP, routing/firewalling, VPN...)
- corporate messaging (e-mail, IM, fax, VoIP integration...)
- config management (CFEngine, Puppet...)
- automatic deployment (PXE, TFTP, d-i, FAI...)
- disaster recovery (backup/restore, recovery media, minimal documentation)
- resources inventory
- multisite control/deployment/delegation
- global control pannel
Debian Enterprise Blend
In Debian Enterprise BOF at DebConf 10 it was considered a good idea to use DebianPureBlends techniques to give a reasonable overview about Enterprise releavant packages in Debian. There is a Wiki Page which helps preparing the Blends tasks.
