Background: I am an undergraduate student majoring in biology and computer science. I have contributed to various free and open source projects such as ?PyPy and Earth Reader. I'm a huge fan of testing and verifying software correctness.
Project title: Continuous Integration for all biological applications inside Debian
Project details: Through this project I will write test suites for Debian Med packages without any tests, and make them suitable for continuous integration.
Synopsis: Through this project, the test coverage of Debian Med Biology packages will reach 100%.
Benefits to Debian: Through this project the Debian Med project will benefit from wider test coverage of its packages. It will increase reliability of said packages and help the project look out for regressions.
Deliverables: As much as I would like to see the CI coverage of Debian Med packages get up to 100%, I will add tests to as many packages as possible during the summer.
Project schedule: This project will last through the whole GSoC period. I have started work on writing and adding tests to Prodigal. I hope to continue contributing to Med after the GSoC period.
Exams and other commitments: I do not have any other commitments.
Other summer plans: I do not have other summer plans.
Why Debian?: I've used Debian since I was a high school student, and the culture around building and maintaining Debian has attracted me ever since. The prospect of making Debian better fit for me and other medical and bioinformatics researchers around the world looks promising.
My previous Debian contributions: I have contributed Korean translations at Launchpad, however I am not sure if it has affected or counts as contribution to Debian.
Are you applying for other projects in SoC?: No, this is my only application.
