Agenda
Announcement: debian-astro mailing list
- Status on Packaging
- what is there, what else do we need?
- Creation of a tasks package
- Package collections:
- Licensing issues
- How to attract new packagers? Packaging by upstream?
- Which coordination with other Distributions do we need? (Fedora etc.)
- Workshop for newcomers: create a first package together
Report (by Ole)
Debian-Astronomy blend
- Increases visibility of Debian-Astro
- Blends should be visible in the installer
- Two orthogonal metapackage principles:
- by topic (cosmology, observational astronomy, ...)
- by "framework" (python, python3, GDL, ...)
Packaging
Workshop: started to package Gammapy (Astropy affiliated package)
- Prepare Debian development environment within Virtualbox on a Mac
- Some headaches because of ongoing gcc5 transition (scipy was not usable in unstable)
- Package builds
- Some copyright info missing
- Manpages needed
Sherpa package will follow
- Backports needed for fast evolving packages (Debian release cycle way too slow here)
- VO packaging (Java):
Next sprint
- Should take place next year, Heidelberg or Potsdam
Some people missed it, even if it was announced & reminded on the mailing list. How can we improve this?
- Mini-Sprint at Debconf 2016 Kapstadt (depending on participants)?
Minutes of the meeting, according to Markus
