Debian offers packages for the statistics environment R all its current releases. Backports of the latest versions to past releases of Debian and the the current and past releases of Ubuntu are available from

External package archives

All of CRAN and BioConductor have been built for i386 and amd64 for both stable and unstable using the cran2deb effort https://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/cran2deb/.

Packages prepared by the OmegaHat group are mostly also uploaded to CRAN and as such do not need any separate treatment.
