Why I chose Debian / Pourquoi j'ai choisi Debian / Warum ich Debian wählte

After I tried many different OS and GNU/Linux distributions, I chose to adopt Debian as my first choice distribution because of its stability policy, its philosophy, the fact Debian is based on a active community and organized around a nonprofit project, and, its inner democratic structure, a subject of great interest to me.

• Après être passé par de nombreux OS et distributions GNU/Linux différentes, j'ai fait le choix d'adopter Debian comme ma distribution de premier choix en raison de sa politique de stabilité, de sa philosophie, du caractère communautaire et non-lucratif du projet et de son organisation démocratique interne, sujet pour lequel j'accorde une très grande importance. /// Nachdem ich viele verschiedene Betriebssysteme und GNU/Linux-Distributionen ausprobiert hatte, entschied ich mich für Debian als meine erste Wahl aufgrund seiner Stabilitätspolitik und seiner Philosophie. Aber auch der Tatsache, dass Debian auf einer aktiven Gemeinschaft basiert und um ein gemeinnütziges Projekt herum organisiert ist. Und schliesslich seiner inneren demokratischen Struktur, ein Thema, das mich sehr interessiert.

My goals in contribution / Mes objectifs pour la contribution / Meine Ziele im Beitrag

I aim to actively contribute to the Debian project, by, to begin with, helping users on diverse forums and writing the wiki and documentation. Over time, I would like to acquire the knowledge to maintain a package for the distribution. Serving under the flag from july to november 2025, I won't be able to contribute to the project during this period. Until then, I want to make my modest first contributions into writing the wiki in order to discover how it works, and to identify pages that I could, in future, help to write.

• Je souhaite contribuer activement au projet Debian, en commençant par aider des utilisateurs sur divers forums et aider à rédiger le wiki et la documentation. J'aimerais à terme acquérir les compétences pour maintenir un paquet au sein de la distribution. Sous les drapeaux de juillet à novembre 2025, je n'aurai pas la possibilité de contribuer au projet durant cette période. D'ici là, je souhaite faire mes modestes premiers pas dans la rédaction du wiki pour découvrir son fonctionnement et voir à quelles pages je pourrai à l'avenir apporter ma contribution. /// Mein Ziel ist, aktiv zum Debian-Projekt beizutragen, indem ich als erstes Benutzern in verschiedenen Foren helfe und das Wiki und die Dokumentation schreibe. Mit der Zeit möchte ich mir das Wissen aneignen, um ein Paket für die Distribution zu betreuen. Da ich von Juli bis November 2025 meinen Militärdienst ableisten werde, werde ich in dieser Zeit keinen Beitrag zum Projekt leisten können. Bis dahin möchte ich meine ersten bescheidenen Beiträge zur Redaktion des Wikis leisten, um herauszufinden, wie es funktioniert, und um Seiten zu identifizieren, an denen ich in Zukunft mitschreiben könnte.
