Ugreen NASync series

Ugreen is a newcommer to the NAS market, having launched its NASsyc series in 2024. The devices come with Ugreen’s own operating system, UGOS Pro, which is based on Debian.

Ugreen officially allows users to install their own operating systems without voiding the hardware warranty. As stated in their warranty policy: “If you choose to install a third-party system, there might be unknown compatibility issues. The official hardware warranty policy will remain unchanged.”

This makes the NASync series an attractive option for those who want to run a standard Debian system on their NAS hardware.

Install procedure

  1. Insert a USB stick with the Debian installer.
  2. Boot the NAS.
  3. Press CTRL+F12 to access the boot menu and open the BIOS (alternative: press CTRL+F2).
  4. Disable the watchdog service.
  5. Save changes and reboot.
  6. Boot from the USB stick and proceed with the standard Debian installation.

Tested models
