Full text draft
Once upon a time in Hamburg[0], Germany, in the year 2025 at the onset of summer in the norther hemisphere a bunch of Debian enthusiasts met. In total they numbered around 58 and they gathered in Fux[1], to do what they like: work on and talk about Debian, Debian related items and FOSS in general. They were kindly hosted by Dock Europe[2] where they had several conference rooms available to go about their business. And business they had.
To ensure they had a chance to know what the others were working on or interested in, there were stand-up meetings in the afternoon of the first three DebCamp days. These first weekdays were attended by about 40 people. Topics that were mentioned there multiple times included bugs, autopkgtest, adduser, sequoia, php, ansible, devscipts, phosh, linux, trixie, reproducible builds and food, however there were also many topics mentioned only once. On the topic of food, the attendees were, as is usual at Debian meetings organized at Dock Europe, well fed by cantina[3]. Splendid job, and very welcoming! A gathering like this isn't complete without the group picture[6] and the traditional cheese and wine event, so that was had too, on Friday evening.
During the weekend, there were 2 days with 14 talks[4] with almost the same variety of topics as earlier during the stand-up. Most of the talks were recorded[5] by the amazing video team, such that remote attendance was possible and missed talks can be reviewed at leisure. Despite no central trip being organized people took faith in their own hands and went visiting some old bunkers and the fish market, among other places. The final day on Monday was back to DebCamp mode, where the last energy was used to tie up the loose ends of the work done. Exhausting & fun!
Last not least we also kept track of the ?DebianEvents/de/2025/MiniDebConfHamburg/Budget, in total the event cost 16816.53 Euros while we had 10000 Euros income from our sponsors plus 2267.5 Euros from attendees who paid for their accomodation, so that Debian had to pay 4549.03 Euros for this memoriable, fun and producitve event, so that we plan to come back in 2026 for another iteration!
