Info on the eeePC 1000HE
Atom n280 based, ships with 1gb RAM (replacable to a max of 2gb), 160gb 2.5" HDD, and WindowsXP (no linux option currently available). It has bluetooth and 4 silver hotkeys.
Wireless is the Atheros AR928X, supported by the ath9k driver, which is not available in the Lenny 2.6.26 kernel. In this respect it is like the 1002HA. However, the kernel for Debian's next release, Squeeze, will support it. See ../../HowTo/Upgrade for instructions using a kernel backport for Lenny.
I bought a 1000HE (June 2009) in Europe/France and received a 1000HE model with a Ralink WiFi card instead of the Atheros, this is pretty upsetting considering that I bought this model especially because of its completely DFSG-free hardware specs.
I too have bought a 1000HE in Europe/England and received one with a Ralink WiFi card. I've posted the lspci at the very end of this page. Note that the wifi card does not show up in lspci unless it is enabled in BIOS and/or enabled using Fn+F2.
