Venue evaluation (Birmingham)
Specification
The minimum specification when discussing with venues:
- Talks
- Main talk hall: 400 seats, theatre/lecture layout,
- Second talk hall: 150 seats, otherwise as main hall
- Committee room: 50 seats, flexible layout, otherwise as main hall
- (Bonus: second committee room, 20 seats, no other facilities)
- Workspace
- 50 seats "hack lab", cabaret/worktable style
- 30 seats "silent lab", cabaret/worktable style, quiet with door
- Organisation space
- 8 desks video team/NOC, boardroom style
- Front desk/reception space, two seats minimum
- (Bonus: 8 seats orga meeting room, boardroom style)
- Coffee outlet space, plus meal space if we will use the venue for meals
Each talk space needs a two seat video production desk at its rear and a lecturn. Good wireless coverage throughout and unfiltered Internet connection. Ideally we will use the venue's structured cabling system to connect up talk rooms, video NOC and work spaces (will provide equipment).
24 hour access is ideal but unlikely. Suggest negotiating evening hours for workspace/orga space, talk rooms can be vacated (but locked as we will need to leave AV setup)
