Square profile

the "square dive" profile which dive tables are designed for is a commonly used term (see e.g. [1], [2], [3]), although "rectangular" would of course be a better expression. regards, High on a tree 20:30, 30 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

Dive tableDive tables — Requesting the page be moved back to its stable title (moved by user Script error: No such module "user". to this title earlier today). The reason given for the change was "no reason for plural form as per Wikipedia naming conventions", but WP:SINGULAR specifically makes the exception for articles which are "the names of classes of objects". The overwhelming use is dive tables in the plural, particularly as any named set of tables (e.g. US Navy tables, Bühlmann tables) will consist of several discrete tables. —RexxS (talk) 22:16, 21 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

For examples of where the word 'tables' is used to refer to collections of sets of tabular data, see Rudolphine Tables, Alfonsine tables, Iguvine Tables, Alternative periodic tables, League tables of British universities, Thomson Financial League Tables, Generating trigonometric tables, etc. --RexxS (talk) 00:38, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
