This template has been split into sub-templates with shortcuts Template:Tl, Template:Tl, Template:Tl. This page is for centralized instructions and discussion.

Usage

• The following examples are not substed, so the external link won't be displayed properly.
• To refer a person to the reference desk, type {{subst:RD1}} to get:

1. Redirect Template:HD/rd

• If you know the topic this question belongs to, type for example {{subst:RD2|Humanities}} to get:

1. Redirect Wikipedia:Help desk/RD tip 2 (section)

• If a specific article probably has the answer to a question, type for example {{subst:RD3|Leonardo da Vinci}} to get:

1. Redirect Wikipedia:Help desk/RD tip 3 (article)

• Do not use if it is unlikely that the reference desk will have an answer either.
• Do not forget to use subst. This will help the servers, and variants 2 and 3 won't work otherwise.
• In examples 2 and 3 above, the template is transcluded and the links are therefore not displayed correctly here.
