72 or 80 days

This must be Nellie Bly attempting to travel Around the World in Eighty Days, and achieving it in 72 days, 6 hours and 11 minutes.

It is 1889. You begin your trip at the birthplace of baseball.

Presumably New York, given she worked on the New York World. Bly's article says she started from Hoboken, New Jersey, whose article describes it as the "Birthplace of Baseball".

You embark on a ship, which was later used as a setting for a 1912 German film.

Looking at 1912 in film, I guess the film is In Nacht und Eis, and the ship therefore the Kaiserin Augusta Victoria.

Despite the name of the shipping line you are not bound to Germany but disembark earlier.

I can't find this one. Got it! After searching "what links here" for pretty well every variation on the ship's name, I found it listed under passenger ship - Hapag, also known as the Hamburg America Line.

In the next country, you will meet with the person that is the reason of your travels.

Presumably she landed in France; Bly's article says she met Jules Verne.

Later your route passes Port Said, Aden, Penang, Singapore, Yokohama and San Francisco.

The last two are mentioned as part of the route in the Around the World in Eighty Days article. The Nellie Bly article confirms she visited most of these countries.

When you finally return, how much time did you need for your voyage?

So she took 72 days, but you could say she needed to do it in eighty. Warofdreams talk 12:28, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
That's almost correct. I am sure you can find the shipping line. -- Ravn 13:53, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
