It has been in existence in various locations since 1965. It currently seats about 400 and features more than 300 live performances each year.[1]

Artists who have performed at The Ark include The Tallest Man on Earth,[2] Lady Lamb,[3] the Verve Pipe,[4] John Paul White and His Band,[5] Los Lonely Boys,[6] the Milk Carton Kids,[7] Nanci Griffith,[8] Mary Chapin Carpenter,[9] Priscilla Ahn,[10] Tom Paxton,[11] Judy Collins,[12] Arlo Guthrie,[13] The Avett Brothers,[14] Ani DiFranco,[15] Birds of Chicago,[16] The Proclaimers,[17] Mandolin Orange,[18] Ladysmith Black Mambazo,[19] and Lissie.[20]

The improv comedy group The Second City has performed there as well.[21]
