Los Angeles Wikimeetup

Los Angeles, California Wikipedians are organizing a meetup on 26 September.

Wikiversity vote started

The Wikiversity project, which currently resides on Wikibooks, has started a vote to move to wikiversity.org, which currently hosts a near-dormant German Wikiversity project. The vote will last until 1 November.

Briefly

  • The Polish Wikipedia has reached 100,000 articles.
  • The Greek Wikipedia now has over 1,000 registered users.
  • The Indonesian Wikipedia has reached 13,000 articles with Triskaidekafobia (fear of the number 13).
  • The Slovak Wikipedia has reached 15,000 articles.
  • The new Yahoo!-hosted server farm in Seoul [yaseo] is now in the process of being commissioned by Wikimedia's tireless developer team. [1] When up and running, the Seoul system will be the Wikimedia Foundation's fourth active server farm, adding to the current server farms in Tampa, Paris, and Amsterdam.
    • The first Squid servers in Seoul are now live, and serving traffic to several Asian countries. [2].
