Recent interviews with SNK have shown that Max Impact should actually be comsidered part of the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting series, and not a 3D version of King of Fighters. This makes total sense, given how the game looks, feels, and plays.
There are still some weird issues, of course -- like the game's suggetion that Rock didn't meet Terry until he was an adult, and like Ryo's default costume being his younger variant from King of Fighters.
This may suggest something about the turn the series will take with Max Impact 2, however..
The title
Can't we just move this to The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact? I mean is there really any doubt in anyone's mind as to what it stands for? Anyways, my main beef with the "KOF" part is that it screws with game lists.
- The King of Fighters '94
- The King of Fighters 2000
- KOF: Maximum Impact
- The King of Fighters XI
Kinda see how it just kills the flow a bit?--SeizureDog 21:03, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, but that is how it's called (and even the announcer pronounces the title "K.O.F."). And if you go there, "'94", "'95", "'96", etc also feel awkward once you reach "2000". And they all look weird once you get to "XI"... 88.161.129.43 (talk) 08:37, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
"The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact Regulation "A" was released for Taito Type X2 on July 14, 2007 and for PlayStation 2 on July 26, 2007 and only in Japan.[1]"
That line should be removed, its an updated version of the sequel, not this game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:908:FD31:1E80:397F:537C:F014:1796 (talk) 10:01, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
