My template welcome message

Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you will learn more about who writes Wikipedia articles (anyone can do it!), consider creating a username, and then get involved in the Wikipedia community discussions. Here are some resources to help you get started:

I have only been here a few months myself, and I have found the Signpost and the Village Pump to be particularly useful, as well as the Welcome area. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page.

Once you have created a username, please be sure to sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. If you have questions, my talk page is here.Mamawrites 12:26, 25 August 2005 (UTC)

An alternative for second welcomes

Welcome! (We can't say that loudly enough!)

Here are a few links you might find helpful:

You can sign your name on talk pages and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date.

If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. Or, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

We're so glad you're here!

For blanking vandals

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia!
