My subjective impression at first hearing the piece was that it sounded very much like a passage of Keith Jarret's well-known Köln concert - as indeed many of Scriabins compositions tend to sound vaguely akin to Jazz harmonies.

This is even more apparent when you look at the score to Scriabin's music, especially the "middle" pieces, like the Sonata No.5. Scriabin consistently uses altered-dominants, "tall" chords, and even chromatically altered circle of fifths progressions (hello, tritone substitutions!), giving many passages a distinctive "jazzy" flavour. It is for this reason that I often to hesitate to call some of his music "atonal". Though it's nearly impossible to state that pieces such as Vers la Flamme and Sonata No.5 are centered on one particular key, it's fairly obvious that most passages have one tonal area in mind.
