Possible contradiction

Causes irritation to the skin, and yet is a possible treatment for acne? No wonder there have been no peer reviewed trials :) – Riana 04:22, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is easy to miss, but pure Valeric Acid is an irritant, but as a Valerian extract in the form of a cream or oils it is non-irritant for the most or even Valproic Acid at low doses in the form of a cream can be very effective. Dosage is key here, many acne treatments contain some kinds of acids or substances with acid entailing properties, if pure or at very high doses it will irritate skin. Perhaps you could edit the article so it distinguishes between Valeric Acid and Valerian\Valeric Acid holding cream as a treatment for acne better--78.86.159.199 (talk) 02:26, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
