Talk:Gaijin/merge

The article Gai-Jin is a new article that covers material that had already been covered in the existing article Gaikokujin, so this should be merged and a redirect should lead to it.

I thought about that, but it seems like the Gaikokujin article is overloaded; though it states that the term "gaijin" is not a contraction of "gaikokujin", it uses the terms almost interchangeably, and I think that the phrase "gaijin" actually occurs in the article text more frequently than the article's title itself. I think to avoid confusion, the gaijin information should be moved here. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 21:25, May 27, 2005 (UTC)

(1) The assertion that gaikokujin and gaijin are unrelated (at least today) sounds like nonsense. IN any case, it's arguable that the topics are sufficiently related that the articles should be merged. (2) Gaijin is not written Gai-Jin. This way of writing does not follow Wikipedia guidelines or correct romanization. Exploding Boy 17:49, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

The contents of the page gaikokujin seem to be more about gaijin than gaikokujin. The gaikokujin page is fairly badly written. I'd suggest moving gaikokujin to gaijin. I agree with Exploding Boy about the name "gaijin" rather than Gai Jin. --DannyWilde 00:01, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
