Is the "Substitution pseudomorph" phenomenon anything like [becoming] "petrified"?

Is the phenomenon described in the "Substitution pseudomorph" section the same as (or, similar to) the phenomenon that is responsible for creating "petrified" evidence, of certain erstwhile forms? (such as, a petrified clam?)

(I have a petrified clam in my house. It is a rock, but its shape is the shape of a clam.)

Just curious!

PS: If the answer is yes, then would this be a good candidate for being mentioned in that section of the article? Thanks, --Mike Schwartz (talk) 20:13, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
